Ultra Seven hails from the Land of Light in Nebula M78, serving as an interstellar explorer mapping the Milky Way. Earth drew his focus during this mission. Witnessing mountain climber Jiro Satsuma sacrifice himself to save another, he revived Jiro and adopted his appearance, creating the independent human identity "Dan Moroboshi" for covert operations. Unlike other Ultras who merge, this form was generated separately, though injuries affect both forms. He joined Earth's defense force, the Ultra Guard, as its sixth member and later became its honorary seventh member, earning the name "Ultraseven".
Physically, Ultraseven stands 40 meters tall and weighs 35,000 tons. His design incorporates ancient Western knight elements, featuring a primarily red and silver color scheme—originally intended as blue before toy production requirements changed it. Notable traits include hexagonal yellow eyes with visible pupils, a cranial crest shaped like the number seven (Eye Slugger), and a Beam Lamp instead of a standard Color Timer; this lamp flashes only during severe danger. Harnessing solar energy through his Protectors negates a transformation time limit. His capabilities include flight at Mach 7, running at 800 km/h, forearm strength of 150,000 tons, and proficiency in martial combat. Key techniques are the Emerium Beam (a hand-fired energy attack) and the Wide Shot (an arrow-shaped beam). The Eye Slugger functions as both a close-combat weapon and a projectile.
During his initial Earth deployment, Ultraseven defended the planet from alien invasions while concealing his identity. His moral convictions faced tests when confronting humanity’s destructive actions, like weapons testing creating vengeful monsters. After sustaining critical injuries defeating the cyborg monster Pandon and Alien Ghose forces, he departed Earth against medical orders to aid the Ultra Brothers—rescuing Ultraman Jack from execution on Planet Nackle and providing him the Ultra Bracelet. He later assisted Ultraman Ace against entities like Brocken and Alien Hipporit, contributing energy alongside other Ultras during pivotal battles.
In "Ultraman: Chō Tōshi Gekiden - Suisei Senjin Tsuifon Tōjō," set in 3026, Ultraseven confronts Tsuifon—a comet-embedded entity dubbed the "incarnation of destruction." After Ultraman Taro’s team failed initially, Ultraseven joined Ultraman, Mefilas, and Ultraman 80 against Tsuifon’s evolved "Super" form, which had displaced Earth from its orbit to use as a new destructive comet. Ultraseven battled Super Tsuifon underground alongside Ultraman 80 and Terrestrial Defense Force (TDF) units but was overwhelmed. Following Mefilas’s sacrificial intervention and Ultraman’s temporary defeat, human hope empowered Ultraman with Delta Star armor to destroy Tsuifon, ending the cycle of interstellar devastation.
