ONA
Description
Hikaru Hizashi, also known as Hikaru Asahi in the original Japanese version, is one of the two main protagonists of Beyblade Burst Sparking, sharing the central role with his younger twin brother, Hyuga. At the time of his debut, Hikaru is twelve years old, making him the oldest main protagonist in the Burst series. His physical appearance is distinctive, featuring slightly tanned skin, sharp lime-green eyes, and smooth blue hair styled in a nine-piece mohawk with light blue tips. When he enters a state of deep synchronization with his Beyblade, his hair briefly lights up like blue fire. An orange half-sun tattoo is permanently marked on his right cheek. His typical attire consists of a turquoise-blue dress shirt with a yellow tie, a navy-blue letterman's jacket with light-blue accents and an H monogram, orange baggy pants, and black sneakers with turquoise and yellow details. He also wears a single fingerless teal glove on his right hand, reflecting that he is left-handed.

In terms of personality, Hikaru is characterized as the brains to his brother Hyuga's brawn. He is generally calm, patient, and level-headed, preferring to analyze his opponents from a strategic distance and devise calculated plans to defeat them. This analytical nature stands in direct contrast to Hyuga, who is reckless and charges headfirst into battles. Hikaru views himself as a heroic figure, possessing a moderate level of confidence that stops just short of arrogance. He demonstrates a protective instinct, particularly toward his younger brother, and is deeply loyal to his friends and family. Despite his generally selfless nature, he can occasionally show self-absorbed or attention-seeking tendencies, such as playfully claiming all the meat on a kebab skewer for himself. His core motivations revolve around proving himself as a top-tier Blader, living up to the legacy of legends he admires, and working alongside his brother to achieve greatness.

Hikaru's journey as a Blader began two years before the events of Sparking, when he witnessed Aiger Akabane's world championship match. This event ignited his passion for Beyblade. After his family relocated to open the Hizashi Family Restaurant, he and Hyuga joined the struggling Comets gym and made a vow to revitalize the team. His role in the story is defined by his partnership and rivalry with his brother. Early tag-team battles often ended in defeat due to their clashing strategies, as Hikaru prioritized defense and analysis while Hyuga focused solely on offense. This friction eventually led them to forge their own Beyblades: Hikaru wields King Helios Zone 1B, a Balance-type Beyblade that spins left, which complements Hyuga's right-spinning Hyperion.

Key relationships shape his development significantly. His bond with Hyuga is the most important, acting as both a supportive older brother and a rival who pushes him to improve. He holds deep admiration for legendary Bladers like Valt Aoi and Aiger Akabane, viewing them as inspirations. Valt later becomes a mentor to Hikaru, training him at the BC Sol gym to master techniques like the Lightning Launch. Other significant relationships include his rivalry with Lain Valhalla, who shatters his Beyblade in a pivotal battle, and his interactions with teammates and coaches at the Comets gym.

Throughout the series, Hikaru undergoes substantial development. Starting with a B-tier rank of 98, he steadily improves through strategic adaptation and hard work. A turning point occurs when Lain Valhalla destroys his Beyblade, Kolossal Helios. Rather than giving up, Hikaru rebuilds and evolves it into Helios Blazebringer, incorporating a new Limit Break System that reveals five additional blades to reflect attacks. This evolution symbolizes his resilience and ability to grow from defeat. His training under Valt Aoi helps him achieve the Sparking Shoot, a special state achieved through complete synchronization with his Beyblade. He competes in major tournaments such as the Japan National and the Lodestar Battle, ultimately reconciling his personal ambition with the necessity of teamwork.

Hikaru possesses several notable abilities in battle. As a left-handed Balance-type Blader, his fighting style emphasizes versatility and adaptation. His special moves include the Zone Counter, where Helios drifts around the stadium to gain speed; the King Strike, a heavy single strike using the Beyblade's ten-blade mode; and the Twin Strike, a synchronized team attack performed with Hyuga's Hyperion. The Sparking Shoot allows him to temporarily increase his Beyblade's speed and power upon launch. Hikaru is distinguished as the first left-handed protagonist in the Beyblade franchise and the first Burst protagonist to own a left-spin Beyblade.
