Description
Apollonia is the daughter of the village mayor in Demetrios's Ancient Greek community, with her background defined by her family's political standing. When the mayor of a neighboring village threatens war unless she marries his son, this demand creates a central conflict. An ongoing three-month Olympic truce prohibiting warfare shifts the resolution to an athletic competition instead of battle or forced marriage. Apollonia's position in this conflict acts as a catalyst for her village embracing sports as an alternative to combat. After the conflict resolves through athletic means, she marries Demetrios, concluding the marriage dispute that positioned her at the heart of inter-village tensions.
