Hiroshi Azuma is a student at Kikuka University and a member of its Occult Research Club. During summer vacation, he ventures out on a midnight excursion with fellow club members to hunt for hidden treasure within the university's database room. Instead of treasure, the group stumbles upon two preserved female mummies. Unbeknownst to the others, club member Sayaka Kamoshida secretly removes a jewel known as the "life stone" from one coffin. This act inadvertently triggers the reanimation of the mummies. Later, Hiroshi Azuma is killed when Euphrosyne Studion twists his head off.
