Akazukin Ema is the buddy monster to Mel Yumegatari, directly inspired by Little Red Riding Hood. She exhibits an energetic and outgoing personality, providing steadfast encouragement and support to Mel, particularly regarding Mel's romantic feelings toward Subaru.

Ema possesses strawberry blonde hair adorned with blue butterfly hair clips and notable green eyes. Her primary attire features a distinctive red hood with green dragon eye designs and a pink bow, brown leggings, and red-and-pink shoes. A golden heart-shaped lock decorates the front of her hood.

Her transformed state, Illusions Dragon or Red-cape Dragon, manifests as an elegant red dragon retaining Ema's blonde hair, green eyes, and blue butterfly hair clips, adding curly pink dragon horns. The red hood transforms into red-and-white wings and a cape-like tail with brown and pink accents. Her feet become sharp red claws, while the heart lock shifts to cream, brown, and gold.

Ema originates from Dungeon World, revealed when she first encountered Mel in the Aibo Academy library, establishing their partnership. She demonstrates consistent devotion to assisting Mel, notably participating in efforts to reverse a curse affecting Subaru. Ema refers to fellow Folktale monsters as precious friends. Her involvement includes traveling to Fairyland alongside Mel to address magical challenges, maintaining her supportive role throughout.
