Description
Taishi Manza is a first-year student at Binan High School known for his emerald hair with swept bangs, blue eyes, and glasses. His uniform is always neat and tidy, typically worn with the blazer buttoned except for the third button. Outwardly cool and level-headed, he readily supplies obscure information, earning him the nickname "walking dictionary." This scholarly image conceals a volatile temper that flares quickly when provoked. He frequently engages in heated debates with his classmate Ichiro Dougo, relying on facts and logic, and is often the first to act in confrontations. Despite his bookish persona, he harbors envy toward Ichiro's reckless attitude, rationalizing it by noting Ichiro lacks his intelligence.

His background reveals a significant shift: he was once a delinquent student. He actively hides this past, becoming furious when Taiju Unazuki taunts him about it. To distance himself from that history, he adopted a studious lifestyle, immersing himself in books and trivia. This effort has largely succeeded, with few aware of his former behavior. However, under stress—like during his first transformation into a Magic Knight or the intergrade swimming competition—his speech and mannerisms revert to a more aggressive, delinquent style.

Pledging loyalty with a kiss to Kalulus, the otter prince of Honyaraland, transforms him into the Magic Knight of Snow, Neve Kiss. His magical staff features a blue crystal with a snowflake symbol, reflecting his snow-based attribute. His pupils become star-shaped during transformation sequences. His catchphrase, "Like the snow that gently embraces the land," precedes his part in the group introduction: "Karls' Knights, Happy Kiss!" Flight is an inherent ability for him and his teammates.

Key relationships shape him. His rivalry with Ichiro Dougo coexists with deep loyalty; he fiercely defends Ichiro, even blasting an attacker with his staff. He demonstrates pragmatism by cooperating with adversaries when necessary, such as teaming with Maasa Shirahone during a swimming competition to prioritize victory over factional conflict. This underscores his commitment to the Earth Defense Club's duties, though his motivations may not fully align with Kalulus' ideals. His hobbies include reading, and he particularly enjoys blueberries.

Notable episodes showcase his adaptability: confronting a school-wide aging curse in "HAPPY Old Men" and his delinquent traits resurfacing under pressure during the swimming competition. His character arc across all seasons and the movie emphasizes reconciling his disciplined present with his turbulent past.
