Description
Aayan is a tsukumogami spirit inhabiting a stationary statue of Anubis, permanently affixed to a pedestal and incapable of independent movement. Mokuren Kashiwagi, Sora's father, acquired him from a gift shop in Egypt during his travels and sent him to Sora as a gift. Mokuren intended this gesture to "speak to his inner child," following previous supernatural gifts that caused fear or distress.
To overcome Aayan's immobility, Sora placed the statue on a wheeled dolly with an attached rope. This allows the family dog, Pochi, to pull Aayan around the house, enabling interaction and mobility within the household. Aayan serves as a guardian figure for the other supernatural creatures residing with Sora: Mii-kun, Conny, Isao, and Mukumuku.
Aayan exhibits a habit of chewing on objects, a pleasant oral fixation. He also tends to assign affectionate nicknames to people, such as calling Sora "Soraino." His personality is characterized by a watchful and somewhat aloof presence, observing household activities.
Aayan's integration contributes to the dynamics among the various creatures. Pochi pulling him around often becomes a playful group activity the other creatures join. His background as a seemingly ordinary souvenir statue from Egypt contrasts with his role as a sentient, albeit stationary, member of Sora's unusual family.
