Haku Gessho, also known as Bai Yuechu, is the fifth and latest reincarnation of Dongfang Yuechu, a significant historical figure. In that past life as Dongfang Yuechu, he was deeply in love with Tushan Honghong. They made a Pledge of Love under the Tree of Bitter Love, using one of his eyes' Xukong Zhilei (Tears of the Void) as a magical vessel. Raised in Tushan and intending to propose, he discovered Honghong's heart belonged to another, the Small Daoist. Dongfang Yuechu then dedicated his life to her dream of bridging humans and Yaoguai. A heartfelt revelation of mutual love with Honghong occurred just before his death at the hands of the Heihu Queen.
