Description
Hamsuke, the Wise King of the Forest, is a giant Djungarian hamster with silver-white fur, a snake-like tail, and six sigils on her belly. For centuries, she inhabited the southern Great Forest of Tob, earning her title through legends portraying her as a powerful, ancient magic-using beast. Her fearsome reputation arose after she slaughtered most of an adventurer party trespassing in her territory, sparing only one who used the flattering epithet "Wise King of the Forest." This title led villagers in nearby settlements like Carne to view her as a protector deterring other monsters.

Initially boastful and prideful, Hamsuke reveled in her status and strength. A solitary existence without encountering others of her kind fueled her desire to find a mate. She spoke with a distinctive pattern, often reversing standard sentence structure.

Her life changed when Ainz Ooal Gown, investigating powerful forest monsters, encountered her. After Aura Bella Fiora lured her out, Hamsuke engaged Ainz in combat but surrendered instantly upon experiencing his Despair Aura I. Choosing servitude over death, she pledged loyalty and was renamed "Hamsuke." Witnessing Nazarick's overwhelming power humbled her, acknowledging her inferiority. She adapted to her new role, dedicating herself to serving Ainz and seeking ways to prove her worth.

As Ainz's mount and companion, Hamsuke participated in key events. She aided in rescuing Nfirea Bareare from E-Rantel Cemetery, transporting Ainz and Narberal Gamma and receiving the sentient Orb of Death. This artifact grants her necromantic abilities, allowing her to cast spells, raise undead minions like Skeletal Dragons, and seek the orb's advice. She accompanied Ainz on expeditions, such as searching for rare herbs in the Great Forest where they encountered the treant Zy'tl Q'ae. During the confrontation with the vampire Honyopenyoko, she witnessed the massacre of adventurers and met Nazarick's Floor Guardians.

Assigned a Death Knight as a sparring partner, Hamsuke awakened martial arts abilities, including "Slashing Strike." She demonstrated this progress by challenging and killing the elf Erya Uzruth during the Invasion of the Large Tomb, taunting his companions afterward. Training continued with lizardmen and the Death Knight, focusing on vigilance and combat refinement. In the Katze Plains, she battled Skeletal Dragons under Momon's guidance, crushing one opponent's head with her tail.

Her loyalty to Ainz remained absolute. Lost in Nazarick, she encountered Kyouhukou, whose cockroach minion guided her until Albedo, Shalltear, Aura, and Mare located her. After E-Rantel became part of the Sorcerer Kingdom, she received her own quarters, sleeping with the Death Knight wrapped around her tail. Discussions with Ainz revealed her title's origin as a misnomer, and he promised help finding others of her species in exchange for maintained loyalty.

In *Isekai Quartet*, Hamsuke appears as a school pet alongside the Death Knight and Filo, including minor interactions like attempting to eat Natsuki Subaru due to his curse.

Physically, Hamsuke possesses superhuman strength, speed, and durability. She grapples with Death Knights, uproots trees, and blitzes silver-ranked adventurers. Her tail strikes obliterate heads, and she blocks empowered sword strikes from mithril-ranked adventurers. She casts spells like *Blindness* and *Charm Species*, though the latter is easily resisted by non-animals. The Orb of Death grants necromancy, while a separate item provides mental effect immunity. Her stamina allows prolonged battles against tireless undead.

Despite her combat prowess, Hamsuke's intelligence is human-like, and she displays lethargy outside training or missions. Her primary motivations are serving Ainz and finding a mate, with her character arc emphasizing adaptation from solitary ruler to loyal subordinate.
