Sakurako Tanukikōji, a Tokyo-based professor, journeys to Konpei Island to study its sole surviving dragon. Her academic background and metropolitan roots clash with the island’s rural setting—evident when she inquires about bathroom facilities and is directed to a river. She arrives driven by scientific interest in the dragon but unaware of local guardianship customs. When adversaries attempt to steal the dragon’s forehead jewel, she joins forces with the island’s protectors. Her role evolves from detached observer to active participant as she collaborates with Kosuke and Rikimaru to safeguard the dragon and preserve Konpei Island’s ecological equilibrium against external threats.
