Description
Gen'ichirō Usami is Ichika Usami's father and Satomi Usami's husband. Of average height with brown hair and brown eyes, he typically wears a karate outfit and sandals. His personality blends deep familial care with a penchant for highly dramatic reactions. He shows keen perceptiveness regarding Ichika's emotional state, often detecting her troubles through simple observation, though his expressive responses frequently embarrass her.

As the primary caregiver while Satomi works internationally as a doctor, Gen'ichirō experiences disappointment in the first episode when Ichika's excitement for Satomi's return causes her to overlook his greeting. During the Sweets Festival in episode 11, his enthusiastic wish to join Ichika accidentally hurts her feelings due to her embarrassment. Despite this, he buys a shortcake for her and her friends. When the combined Kirakiraru Thieves attempt to steal it, he physically shields the cake, sustaining injuries that knock him unconscious. He awakens to receive a fruit tart from Ichika, prompting another deeply emotional display that embarrasses her.

Later episodes further reveal his relationships and resilience. Training with dojo students in episode 24, he invites Ciel to join, quickly befriending her and expressing happiness at her friendship with Ichika. Episode 31 highlights his role in family dynamics when Satomi visits; he facilitates mother-daughter bonding during dinner and accompanies Satomi to the airport, where they witness Ichika present a specially crafted cake. His support continues in episode 36 as he trains with Ichika for a sports day and partners with her in a three-legged race.

Gen'ichirō faces direct antagonism later. Grave forcibly transforms him and other townspeople into nendos (clay dolls) in episode 39, compelling Cure Whip to fight against him. He is restored the following episode. In episode 46, while preparing Ichika's birthday celebration with Satomi and guests, Noir drains his Kirakiraru along with others', leading to the loss of his emotions and memories by episode 47. These are restored after the Cures reclaim and scatter their own Kirakiraru throughout the town. His character arc culminates in episode 48, where he briefly vanishes during the world's destabilization but is saved when the Cures persuade Elisio to relent, allowing him to resume participating in Ichika's birthday celebration.
