Description
Nfirea Bareare is a human pharmacist living first in E-Rantel and later Carne Village. Raised by his grandmother, Lizzie Bareare, after his parents' early death left him with only faint memories, he apprenticed under her, gaining deep knowledge of herbs, alchemy, and potion-making. He possesses the rare innate talent to wield any magic item without restrictions.
Delivering potions to Carne Village, he met and developed romantic feelings for Enri Emmot. Initially nice, calm, and timid, Nfirea harbored an inferiority complex, especially regarding Ainz Ooal Gown. This complex lessened as his relationship with Enri strengthened, fostering greater self-assurance and revealing a more shrewd, analytical side. Though occasionally suspicious of Ainz's motives, his loyalty to Ainz remained firm.
During Guu's attack on Carne Village, Nfirea confronted a troll that breached the defenses while patrolling with Enri. To ensure her escape, he stayed behind, confessing his love during the fight. Overwhelmed and nearly killed, he was saved by Lupusregina Beta. This event deepened his commitment to Enri and the village.
He dedicated immense effort, often working through the night, to replicate and enhance the red potion provided by Ainz. His work expanded to herb cultivation experiments across the Great Forest of Tob. After marrying Enri, his focus shifted from potion fabrication to assisting with village chief duties and herb preservation. When Ainz visited the Elf Country, Nfirea collaborated via a magical gate with dark elf pharmacists, providing expertise in identifying herbs.
In the *Mass for the Dead* continuity, following Enri's death in a Chaos Beast attack, Nfirea descended into severe depression and obsessive rage, his hair turning white. Focused solely on researching Chaos Beasts for revenge, he killed thugs harassing his sister-in-law Nemu and collaborated with Sophie Noia to find a cure for Gazef Stronoff, transformed into a Contaminated Beast. Shown a vial of Minor Healing Potion, he eventually became director of the E-Rantel Magic Research Institute, leading research alongside figures like Fluder Paradyne within the E-Rantel Cemetery facilities.
