Description
Kouki Mimura is a student in class 3-E of Kunugigaoka Junior High School, a class assigned the unusual task of eliminating their superhuman teacher. He has a deliberately ordinary appearance, with light brown hair cut into a plain bowl style and light-colored eyes that appear orange-brown or greenish depending on the scene. This unremarkable look is a quiet strength: it makes him easy to overlook and well suited for reconnaissance.

His personality is grounded and easygoing, yet marked by a calm, reserved nature. Mimura does not crave the spotlight, but he profoundly values the peace and unity within his class. He often serves as the straight man, maintaining a level-headed presence when classmates grow chaotic. Beneath that modesty lies a sharp, director-like mind. A natural child of television, he sees the world through a wide lens, constantly noticing how disparate elements could be woven together into a single, effective picture. This perspective, along with a deep-seated desire for a fun assassination, drives his contributions: he wants the mission to succeed not through brute force, but through clever planning and cinematic flair.

His greatest talents revolve around filmmaking and direction. Having been part of the Film Research Society, Mimura is skilled at appraising DVDs, editing footage, and visual storytelling. During the Okinawa summer training camp, he sacrificed his free time to compile all known weaknesses of their target into a comprehensive, shaming film. Later, when the class was captured by a lethal foe known as the Shinigami, it was Mimura who orchestrated their escape by applying his knowledge of camera placement and set construction to their prison room. He also functioned as a scout during the class civil war, feeding information about the opposing team to his side. As an assassin, he is not a frontline fighter; instead, his aptitude lies in strategy, planning, and technical preparation. His code name, Mushroom Director, reflects both his hairstyle and his behind-the-camera role.

Academically, Mimura is a steady, reliable student who climbed from rank 89 in his first midterms to rank 26 by the end of the term, demonstrating his methodical growth. His relationships within the class are warm but understated. He was originally in the same year as Maehara and Isogai, and from sitting behind Isogai daily he became able to read his physical and mental state with startling accuracy. Mimura harbors a secret crush on Yukiko Kanzaki, a feeling he hides so well no one notices. His closest friendships are with Okajima and Sugaya, fellow craftsmen whose contrasting personalities—one silly, one fiery—create lively, creative conversations, with Mimura acting as the balancing presence. He can also discuss sports with athletic classmates like Maehara and Sugino thanks to television, though he has no competitive skill himself. A memorable attempt to bond with Takebayashi over table tennis ended awkwardly when he was completely outmatched, illustrating both his earnestness and occasional social missteps.

Over the course of the story, Mimura evolves from a boy who saw himself as entirely plain and lacking confidence into a student who understands his own worth as a director and strategist. The encouragement of his teacher and the shared purpose of the class allow him to embrace his unique vision and transform it into a quiet but essential role in their collective efforts.
