Description
Ichirō Watanabe, a senior executive at Shijima Motors, orchestrates the arrest of Momotarō Morikawa (Kokone's father) for corporate espionage involving stolen self-driving car technology. This technology originated from research by Kokone's late mother, Ikumi, who died during its development. Watanabe aggressively pursues acquisition of the research, specifically the software on a tablet computer, to advance Shijima Motors' ambitions for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Leveraging his corporate influence to direct police actions, Watanabe relentlessly tracks Kokone across Japan – from near the Great Seto Bridge to Osaka and Tokyo – to retrieve the tablet and a connected stuffed animal. He justifies this pursuit with claims of intellectual property theft, while his true motives involve consolidating power within Shijima Motors and facilitating a potential hostile takeover.

Within the dream realm of Heartland, Watanabe manifests as Bewan, the King's chief adviser. Sharing Watanabe's appearance and manipulative nature, Bewan actively undermines the kingdom: confining Princess Ancien, sabotaging the King's defense against the destructive Colossus, and plotting to seize control by engineering a crisis he intends to resolve. His actions here include imprisonment and a desire to witness the kingdom's destruction should his schemes fail.

A past connection to Kokone's family emerges from a photograph showing Watanabe alongside Momotarō and Ikumi during the project's early stages. This history fuels his determination to secure the completed technology, believing it belongs to Shijima Motors. Despite Chairman Shijima's later wish to honor his deceased daughter Ikumi by realizing her Olympic vision, Watanabe operates independently and aggressively, keeping his extreme tactics hidden from the chairman.

His narrative concludes during the Olympic venue climax. After attempting to capture Kokone and her father amidst malfunctioning self-driving vehicles, Watanabe is subdued and removed by security. His subsequent fate remains unconfirmed, though implications point to arrest or dismissal. Concurrently in Heartland, Bewan is defeated when Kokone empowers a giant robot to overcome the Colossus, resulting in his imprisonment by the King as the kingdom is saved.
