TV Special
Description
Pietro Panini is an enthusiastic fan of Rebecca Rossellini, a prominent Italian businesswoman, celebrity, and operator of Italy's largest hotel chain. Driven by this obsession, he stages Rebecca's kidnapping and orchestrates a train robbery. Within the "Italian Game" special, Pietro executes these actions under the direction of the mysterious Masked Count, who manipulates events unseen. This contrasts sharply with his portrayal in the bonus episode "Non-Stop Rendezvous." In that episode, Pietro acts independently, without the Masked Count's involvement, solely motivated by his fandom to hold Rebecca and her butler Robson hostage on a bomb-rigged train. "Non-Stop Rendezvous" explicitly frames the kidnapping as Pietro's own decision, diverging from the special's narrative. The bonus episode also includes scenes absent from "Italian Game," such as an opening sequence at a cinema and an ending where Rebecca decides to create a film based on her ordeal. Pietro's character lacks significant development beyond these two narratives, with no further elaboration on his background or motivations in other official media. The distinction between his manipulated role in the special and his independent actions in the bonus episode represents the extent of his character arc.
