Description
Kei Kugimiya is a genetically engineered human, an Evolved Child created by the MJP project to develop enhanced soldiers capable of piloting advanced AHSMB combat units against the alien Wulgaru. Her specific genetic enhancements grant her superhuman hearing. She pilots the Purple Two unit within Team Rabbits, primarily handling long-range sensor analysis and battlefield coordination, effectively serving as the team's Mission Control during combat.

Physically reserved and serious, Kei acts as Team Rabbits' most level-headed member. She experiences self-consciousness about her physical development compared to teammate Tamaki Irie, occasionally displaying noticeable discomfort or envy. Her heightened auditory senses create social challenges, causing difficulty filtering background noise and contributing to a tendency for blunt communication.

Kei develops significant romantic feelings for team leader Izuru Hitachi, which intensify throughout their missions. This attraction manifests as protective concern and occasional jealousy, particularly regarding Izuru's interactions with the Wulgaru emissary Teoria. She once actively sought teammate Toshikazu Asagi's help to disrupt Izuru's connection with Teoria, seemingly unaware of Asagi's own romantic feelings toward her. Her reactions to Izuru range from intense disapproval—such as physically striking him after he described inappropriate content as "refreshing"—to devoted support during his health struggles.

Her combat capabilities evolve significantly, especially during critical battles. Her Purple Two unit eventually achieves an enhanced "Super Mode" state upon reaching sufficient Harmonic Levels with the JURIA system, a transformation shared by most teammates later on. This development coincides with mounting physical and psychological strain from the AHSMB technology, where high synchronization levels risk personality override by the system's survival instincts.

Kei also participates in the series' musical elements, performing the ending theme song "Arigatō. Tadaima." alongside Tamaki Irie, reflecting their in-universe friendship despite contrasting personalities.
