TV Special
Description
Buer, a sentient robotic entity created by Uzal Delilah, initially functions as a giant boring robot equipped with a powerful laser for excavation and mining, resembling a massive eyeball. Upon shutdown or destruction of this primary form, its Central Nervous Unit detaches into an independent five-legged lion-esque creature with gentlemanly mannerisms and a consistently perverted disposition, retaining full sentience and mobility.
Possessing immense and potentially uncontrollable power, Buer draws persistent interest from Takumi Korobase, Nene Nanakorobi’s aunt and a genius inventor. Her attempts to disassemble it force repeated concealment, often inside a safe-box—confinement in darkness induces significant trauma. Buer’s perverted behavior routinely provokes violent reactions from the combat android Clarion, causing repeated injuries and comedic conflict.
Originally industrial, Buer is weaponized during a terrorist attack on Cenancle Island, resulting in Uzal Delilah’s apparent demise and catalyzing Nene and Clarion’s partnership. This event establishes Buer as a major threat requiring containment. Later, when the main body goes berserk, Nene’s sacrificial intervention shuts it down, though she returns unharmed due to timely rescue, highlighting the protagonists’ commitment to managing the danger.
Buer’s origins tie to the clandestine organization "Poseidon," which Uzal and Takumi formerly belonged to before defecting. While not explicitly confirmed as Poseidon’s direct creation, its technology and Takumi’s intense scrutiny suggest deep organizational links. During the climax, Buer’s Central Nervous Unit is discovered alongside inactive, pod-bound duplicates of Clarion, creating ambiguity about Clarion’s uniqueness and leaving Buer’s connection to these units unexplored.
In the final confrontation, Buer indirectly distracts antagonist Ian Kurtz via an ambiguous Uzal Delilah apparition, leading to Kurtz’s burial under rubble. The manifestation’s nature—whether Uzal, hologram, or other phenomenon—remains unclear, but Buer’s association with Uzal’s legacy proves pivotal. Post-conflict, Buer’s Central Nervous Unit survives under Nene and Clarion’s protection, persisting precariously due to its inherent tendencies and external threats.
Narratively, Buer acts as a catalyst: its uncontrollable power and provocative behavior generate obstacles, while its origins drive investigative subplots. Combining menace and dark comedy, it disrupts protagonists’ lives yet requires their protection from dissection. This duality—as both tool and burden—concludes in ongoing, managed coexistence with Nene and Clarion.
