Description
Lindow Amamiya, known as Rindou Amamiya in Japanese, led the legendary First Unit of Fenrir's Far East Branch. Enlisting in 2061 and holding the rank of Corporal, he achieved the branch's highest team survival rate, exceeding 90%. He stood as the sole God Eater to defeat an Ouroboros-class Aragami alone. His leadership emphasized protecting new recruits to prevent early casualties.
Physically, Lindow had white skin, black hair covering the left side of his face, and light green eyes. He initially wore a modified commander uniform with coattails and an open front revealing a black undershirt. Following an Aragami infection, his uniform suffered significant damage and his right arm mutated. Post-recovery, he concealed this arm beneath a golden gauntlet. Later assignments saw him adopt Cradle's white jacket uniform.
Lindow maintained a joking demeanor but exercised sharp combat judgment, consistently prioritizing his team's survival over his own. This was demonstrated during the Moon in the Welkin mission when he stayed behind to fight the Prithvi Mata Aragami solo, enabling his unit's escape. He established three core rules for his team: "Don't die," "Retreat when overwhelmed," and "Use cover/stealth," later condensed into the principle: "Don’t run away from living."
His backstory involved uncovering classified intel regarding the "Ark Project" and former Director Schicksal, leading him to sabotage the Moon in the Welkin mission in 2071. Though reported MIA, he survived the initial Aragami encounter only to face a Dyaus Pita. This battle cost him his God Arc armlet, causing uncontrolled Oracle Cell infection. Shio, a humanoid Aragami, intervened, saving him and later helping manage his transformation pain. Without the armlet's Bias Factor injections, the infection spread, fully mutating him into a Corrosive Hannibal. Fragments of his personality persisted, allowing brief aid to allies before his Aragami instincts dominated.
The Far East Branch resumed its search after detecting his DNA pattern. The Protagonist and Ren—Lindow's personified God Arc—located him on Aegis Island. During their confrontation, a resonance effect transported the Protagonist into Lindow's subconscious. There, they battled a manifestation of the Corrosive Hannibal, freeing Lindow from its control. Ren sacrificed himself to halt the infection's spread, stabilizing Lindow's condition but leaving his right arm permanently mutated.
After recovery, Lindow resumed duty under the Acting Director, primarily training new God Eaters. He married his former teammate and fiancée, Sakuya Tachibana, and they had a son named Ren Amamiya. By the events of God Eater 2, he transferred to the mobile unit Cradle alongside Soma Schicksal, Alisa Ilinichina Amiella, and the Protagonist. He continued field operations, notably requesting the Blood Unit's aid against the Kyuubi Aragami.
Key relationships defined his journey: He initially saw the Protagonist as someone to protect but later acknowledged them as an equal leader. He mentored Lenka Utsugi, recognizing his potential after observing selfless actions. Sakuya evolved from a "frienemy" to his wife, their bond highlighted in post-mission dialogues. His older sister, Tsubaki Amamiya, maintained a strict yet caring dynamic. Soma Schicksal regarded him as a reliable comrade, while Kota Fujiki idolized his capabilities. Alisa initially criticized his laid-back style but later respected him deeply, particularly after regretting her role in his presumed death.
His God Arc utilized a Long Blade (older close-combat model) and later incorporated an Assault Gun. Uniquely, he avoided using Impulse Edge attacks despite being a New-Type. In God Eater 2, his Blood Art was Tornado Rush. The absent armlet remained a vulnerability; prolonged separation risked restarting the Aragami transformation.
His surname "Amamiya" combines "rain" (雨) and "temple/shrine" (宮), while "Rindou" translates to "gentian," a flower whose roots impart bitterness—reflecting his experiences.
