Description
Megumu Kobayashi, nicknamed Mego, is one of the twin protagonists alongside her brother Mitsuru. Her name draws inspiration from Megohime, wife of the historical warlord Date Masamune, reflecting her deep fascination with Japanese history. This passion fuels her extensive knowledge, earning her the moniker "History Otaku," with a particular focus on Date Masamune shaping her interests.
She naturally possesses an "Angelic Aura" that unintentionally draws male attention. Academically strong, Megumu initially helps her brother by cross-dressing to take his history exams. During this time, she encounters delinquent student Aoi Sanada, whose Masamune-like eyepatch sparks her romantic involvement.
Beyond history, Megumu aspires to be a manga artist. Mitsuru observes her drawing skills require improvement, but she practices diligently, often sketching in parks. One sketching session is interrupted when a stranger, Chiharu Uesugi, reacts violently to her drawing of Aoi, revealing past conflicts. Megumu plays a pivotal role in reconciling Chiharu and Aoi by intuitively understanding Chiharu's unresolved feelings.
Her relationship with Aoi faces significant challenges, including his gynophobia and trauma from a childhood fire that scarred him and led to his mother's abandonment. Megumu helps him overcome these issues, notably accepting his scars without hesitation. When Aoi goes missing in Sendai during the 2011 Tohoku earthquake, Megumu travels there with her mother to find him, demonstrating her determination.
After high school, Megumu marries Aoi and they have a daughter named Ibuki. She collaborates with Shino Takenaka, her former classmate and Aoi's half-sister, to create a children's book inspired by her relationship with Aoi, combining her artistic aspirations with her personal history.
