Description
Kanade Katagiri is a high school student living as a hikikomori, confined to her room until initiating reintegration. She possesses an intensely active imagination that fuels elaborate delusions, frequently visualizing door-filled landscapes or imagined figures. These fantasies function as both escape and coping mechanisms for her isolation. Physically, she has black hair worn long with eye-covering bangs or in twin braids, shadowed black eyes, and stands 155cm tall.

Her emergence begins when a recurring delusion—a cowboy claiming to be her "heart's hero"—urges her outdoors. This compels her to seek a haircut, leading to an encounter with professional hairdresser Hasui Tomoomi. He forcibly cuts her hair in a park, paradoxically boosting her confidence to return to school. She soon reunites with former classmate Sudou Yukio, who accompanies her to school despite resistance from her household.

Kanade resides with non-blood-related younger brother Sonomura Ikuto. With absent parents, Ikuto manages domestic duties like cooking and gardening, compensating for Kanade's lack of household skills. He displays protectiveness, discouraging her from contacting Hasui, though she ignores this. Her homeroom teacher, Konno Chihiro, provides academic support to address prolonged absence-related gaps.

Her development diverges across narratives:
- With Ikuto, obliviousness to his romantic feelings shifts after accidental alcohol consumption leads to intimacy. Witnessing his private moments reveals him as the real-world counterpart to her "heart's hero," sparking mutual romance. Their relationship advances to physical closeness and shared ambitions, like running a restaurant with homegrown produce.
- With Yukio, rekindled friendship turns romantic after a school festival. His escalating possessiveness results in coercive sexual encounters, disrupting her academics and mental health. Attempts to stabilize the relationship—including secret cabaret club work—lead to physical confrontations and emotional collapse before separation.

Kanade’s reintegration remains fragile, relying on male validation and sometimes regressing into delusions under stress. Story resolutions vary by path, spanning committed partnerships to psychological decline.
