Shushu, known as "Timid," was raised by her father to believe she was a male wereman, shaping her self-identity and her aspiration to become a public servant like him. Discovering her biological female identity later rendered her ineligible for wereman certification. To facilitate her father's retirement, she enrolled at Monster Academy, determined to gain official recognition as a wereman and pursue her career goal despite her biology.

Seeking an inconspicuous existence at the academy, Shushu instead drew attention due to her background. She encountered Juzu, the monster prince and son of the academy's founder, whom other students feared. Juzu, however, revealed himself as intellectually limited but kind-hearted upon learning Shushu's secret. Shushu's exposure of Juzu's true nature disrupted her desired anonymity. Their subsequent interactions attracted increased scrutiny from the student body, directly contradicting her wish for a low-profile life at the academy.
