Description
Meichi Yuri, the chairwoman of Myōjō Academy, is the primary orchestrator behind the events of Class Black. A member of the same clan as Haru Ichinose, she wields a potent "Queen Bee" ability to exert control over others—a power she once used to save Nio Hashiri and which remains central to her influence.
In her youth, Meichi triumphed in her own Class Black initiation in just six days, emerging without a single scar—a feat signaling exceptional skill and power from an early age. This victory secured her a leadership role within her clan, where she now oversees its global operations spanning business, industry, and education. Through these connections, she moves among powerful figures, including those within the Hanabusa Conglomerate and individuals like Kaiba, whom she addresses with informal familiarity.
As chairwoman, Meichi designed the deadly elimination game of Class Black as a test for Haru Ichinose, intended to prove her worth as the clan’s next Primer. Preferring to observe from a distance with an air of mild interest or boredom, she seldom intervenes directly, instead relaying orders through her subordinate, Nio Hashiri.
Nio was given to Meichi by Lord Kuzunoha to serve as her attendant. Over time, Meichi groomed Nio—imparting manners and securing devotion through methods that included punishment to ensure obedience. Their relationship is defined by a distinct power dynamic, likely reinforced by Meichi’s Queen Bee ability, and carries implications beyond mentorship, despite Nio’s significantly younger age.
Meichi’s demeanor is consistently calm, confident, and emotionally detached, often displaying little more than a faint smile or mild amusement. She carries a pronounced sense of superiority, believing a queen should remain isolated, never open her heart, and follow only her own orders. This aligns with a lack of conventional empathy; she shows scant concern for the suffering caused by Class Black, though she ensures medical care for the injured and imprisonment for rule-breakers like Otoya—reflecting a pragmatic, rather than absent, morality.
During the True Orientation for the 10th Class Black, Meichi reveals her intentions directly to Haru and Tokaku Azuma, ordering Nio to take Haru to the clan mausoleum where Tokaku attempts the assassination. After Haru survives and is hospitalized, Tokaku declares her wish to remain with Haru—a sentiment Meichi acknowledges as resembling a confession—and ultimately permits them to stay together after graduation.
Following these events, Meichi and Nio host the 11th Class Black. But once Haru ascends as the clan’s new queen, Meichi departs Myōjō Academy with Nio, declaring that two queens cannot share one hive. Her whereabouts thereafter remain unknown.
In appearance, Meichi Yuri has long red hair and pinkish eyes, and typically wears a black suit over a white collared shirt. Her design bears resemblance to a possible older version of Isuke Inukai.
