Lee Mayfeng, also known as Li Mayfeng and operating under the alias White Snake, is a character from the visual novel and OVA series Witch of Steel Annerose, with further appearances in related media. A witch and assassin employed by the Chinese mafia organization Nine Dragons, alternatively called the Kowloon Club or Kowloon Kai, her true name is undisclosed. She is the biological sister of Koukawa Oboro, born into a lower branch of the Koukawa clan. Having shown no innate talent for ninja arts, she departed before the Koukawa Massacre and later entered the criminal underworld in Shanghai.
She possesses a tall, voluptuous figure with large breasts, a narrow waist, and wide hips. Her short, wavy hair is dark maroon, and her eyes are red. A prominent snake tattoo on her back, the source of her magical power, is frequently visible due to her preferred attire: a white, sleeveless qipao with high slits that exposes her cleavage, midriff, and back. She acquired this tattoo after assassinating a witch, stealing and integrating the source of that witch’s power to become a magic user, though she remains predominantly human.
Her personality is sadistic, cold, and cruel. She takes distinct pleasure in antagonizing and humiliating Annerose Vajra, with whom she shares a hostile rivalry in Amidahara City. Their clashes often involve public taunts and property damage. While she deeply desires Annerose’s downfall and sexual humiliation, she seldom seeks her death. This animosity began when Annerose interfered with a Nine Dragons operation. Despite her antagonistic nature, she can form temporary alliances if it furthers her objectives, particularly those involving trouble for Annerose.
Her abilities center on assassination and poison manipulation. She is highly skilled with rope darts. Her White Snake power enables her to refine various venoms, including a unique estrus poison that induces uncontrollable sexual arousal, which she applies to her weapons. She also employs hexing magic, aided by a serpent from the Dark World that inhabits her body.
During the Werewolf Incident in Witch of Steel Annerose, the Nine Dragons hire her to target Annerose. She launches multiple attacks intending to capture Otonashi Miki and humiliate her rival. In one encounter, she overpowers and restrains Annerose but is ultimately defeated by Tachibana Rikurou. Captured by Aishwarya Lai of the Crimson Tower, she is enslaved and forced into the Chaos Arena games. Her fate diverges with the story’s conclusion: in a bad ending, the magician Barde rescues her, and she serves as a torturer for a captive Annerose; in the true ending, she remains a slave following Barde’s defeat and the destruction of the Otherworld Gate.
In other timelines, her story continues. In Taimanin Asagi Battle Arena, Neu Eazlane frees her from the Crimson Tower, and she reluctantly partners with Fuuma Kotaro on a mission to capture a demon. During this task, she encounters Edwin Black, who repels her but spares her life with a remark about her sister Oboro. In the RPGX timeline, where the events of Witch of Steel Annerose do not transpire, she appears as a minor antagonist in incidents involving a Book Djinn and an out-of-control esper weapon, clashing with characters such as Shinganji Kurenai before retreating. In the Action timeline, she covertly supports a zombie monster outbreak in Amidahara to threaten Annerose and later collaborates with the demon Furfur to gather intelligence on Fuuma Kotaro’s Independent Commando Unit.
Her relationships are marked by rivalry and familial tension. Her most significant conflict is with Annerose Vajra. She also has a strained connection with her sister, Oboro Koukawa, and commands some of Oboro’s former ninja troops within the Nine Dragons. She maintains a pragmatic, though not fully cooperative, association with individuals such as Neu Eazlane.
