Description
Kunstlijk is an anatomical human model residing in the science room of St. Claire Elementary School, possessing genius-level scientific knowledge and animating only when humans are absent. His design features detailed internal anatomy, with one half showing exposed musculature and internal structures lacking skin.

Originally conceived for a dialogue-less short film targeting a music video channel, the character later expanded into a feature-length narrative. In this main story, Kunstlijk coexists with a skeleton model named Goth. After three young girls vandalize him during a school visit, he devises revenge by luring them to a midnight event at the school under the false pretense of a party, initially aiming to frighten them as retribution.

During this midnight quest, Kunstlijk tasks the girls with retrieving three medallions hidden in the Pool Room, Digital Room, and Music Room, promising a wish as a reward. However, his true motive is hidden: he desperately needs the wish to prevent himself and Goth from reverting to inanimate objects due to the science room's imminent demolition. This urgency intensifies after encountering a depot of discarded mannequin parts, which starkly reveals his own replaceability and potential fate, fueling a deeper fear of obsolescence.

Forty years prior to these events, Kunstlijk was involved in an incident perceived as betrayal by other supernatural school entities, the Midnighters. During a past medallion quest, debris from his own future time machine invention struck him while he held a medal, creating the illusion he willingly aided a human girl. This misunderstanding resulted in longstanding distrust among the Midnighters.

His personality blends intellectual arrogance with emotional vulnerability. Initially displaying vengeful tendencies, including attempts to sabotage the girls and reviving formalin-preserved rabbits (who later turn against him), witnessing the mannequin graveyard catalyzes a shift. Recognizing the girls' success as his only survival hope, he transitions from antagonist to reluctant ally, focusing on guiding them to complete the quest. After the girls wish "to play again," the science room is preserved, resetting Kunstlijk and Goth to prime condition and halting demolition plans.

Beyond the film, the character appeared in promotional shorts depicting daily hijinks with Goth. These shorts, originally film advertisements, gained popularity and spurred a crowdfunding campaign for more episodes. Sequel concepts involved another anatomical model from a neighboring school potentially replacing Kunstlijk, indicating his legacy within the franchise's lore.
