Description
Kanae Hokari is the narrative's main antagonist. Raised by parents involved in the scientific Paradise Project, their emotional neglect fostered her detached and clinical worldview. She possesses a petite stature at 153 cm tall, with short black hair habitually tied with a ribbon and gray eyes (sometimes described as green). Her physical appearance includes noticeable E-cup breasts. Initially presented as timid, sweet, and fiercely loyal to protagonist Keisuke Takatou, this demeanor is a deliberate facade masking her true nature.

Her genuine personality is cold, intellectually driven, and arrogant, marked by sadism and perverse tendencies. She demonstrates this through non-consensual bondage and sadomasochistic behavior inflicted upon Keisuke. She views others, especially Keisuke and her childhood acquaintance Nemu Manaka, primarily as research subjects. Her manipulation extends to orchestrating coercive scenarios within a confined environment. Within this setting, she frames Nemu as the aggressor while posing as an innocent bystander, effectively reversing their actual roles from events outside the controlled conditions.

Kanae's history is deeply entwined with Nemu's origins; she reveals Nemu to be a clone designated "Nemuri Hime," treating her as a scientific specimen. Following the coercive scenarios, Kanae kidnaps Nemu, driven by a desire to retain her for ongoing observation and study. This act triggers pursuit, culminating in Kanae being fatally wounded by mercenaries. Her final moments express profound regret over prioritizing her obsession with Nemu over survival strategies, acknowledging her lapse in judgment before bleeding out. A significant, ambiguous aspect involves her decision to flee with Nemu. According to narrative sources, Kanae herself remained uncertain of her precise motivations. Interpretations suggest potential unconscious factors, like a repressed longing for normalcy, happiness, or an unresolved emotional connection stemming from their fractured shared history. This complexity hints at underlying emotional conflict beneath her calculated exterior, though her death prevents resolution of these potential facets.
