Description
Tameru Tachibana is a recurring character in the series, instantly recognizable by his spiked green hair, black eyes, and signature visor. His usual attire is a blue and white hero-style bodysuit complete with a belt and red cape, while his casual wear consists of a yellow and red suit, green pants, and a red cap.
Driven by a powerful obsession with justice and heroics, Tameru often misreads situations to align with his ideals. He develops an intense infatuation with Kimari Tatsumi, initially idolizing her as a pure princess. Despite her repeated rejections and annoyance, he persistently follows her, eventually transferring to Kadode Middle School to be near her. His devotion includes masochistic tendencies, as he enjoys the consistent abuse he receives from Kimari. After initially refusing to acknowledge her darker traits, he ultimately accepts her true nature, including her evil side.
Born into considerable wealth, Tameru can acquire any material possession and is constantly attended by his butler, Ser-jii. As a red card battler, he frequently copies decks from strong opponents, including the champion's deck. Believing himself a hero, he feels compelled to protect Kimari from perceived corruption by Hajime Hinobori. This conviction leads to two documented battles against Hajime (episodes 16 and 41), both ending in Tameru's defeat. These losses deeply shock him due to his unwavering belief that justice must prevail.
A significant shift occurs when Tameru argues with Ser-jii at an airport over his diminished passion for battling. Witnessing a similar conflict between Katabura and Moshireeta, Tameru proposes an exchange of companions. Partnering with Moshireeta, he encounters Kimari. She deems him too pathetic to call her "Princess" unless he defeats Hajime. During this high-stakes battle, Tameru wields his family heirloom X-rare card, The BlueSkyHero Kung-Wolf. Despite losing again, he regains his passion for battling, prompting Kimari to permit him to continue using the honorific.
Tameru primarily uses a red deck, often replicating the champion's cards, though his true green deck is revealed in episode 41. Key cards in his repertoire include The DragonHero Sieg-Yamato-Fried, The HollowBeast Champbongor, Zenith-Dragoon, and his family heirloom, The BlueSkyHero Kung-Wolf. His deck also features multi-colored Braves like The GunDragon Phoenix-Cannon (red) and The KnightSnake Pendragon (purple), alongside various Magic and Nexus cards such as Double Blaster, Blaze Slash, and The Thousand Knowledge Canyon.
Tameru shares a thematic connection with Justice Tachibana, the mascot character of the Battle Spirits trading card game. Both characters emphasize justice, share the Tachibana surname, and originate from the same franchise. However, Tameru is visually distinct and portrayed as younger. This linkage positions him as a narrative representation of Justice Tachibana within his series, though they remain separate entities.
