Description
Kataru Ohizumi is the 13-year-old younger brother of Manabu Ohizumi, student council president at Kadode Middle School. He possesses a short, obese build, messy brown hair, blue eyes, and permanent blush stickers on his cheeks. His signature outfit consists of a white shirt under a green hoodie, white shorts, green shoes, and a yellow bag strapped to his back.
Kataru exhibits feminine speech patterns and mannerisms. His hobbies include crossdressing and he displays intense devotion toward his older brother, Manabu. This devotion manifests as hostility toward anyone expressing romantic interest in Manabu, embodying a "My Brother Is Off Limits" attitude. He also has a notable fondness for eating sweets and junk food.
Initially a less-experienced Battle Spirits player, Kataru used a yellow burst deck centered around his Key Spirit, The LightHero LunaArk-Kaguya. His deck featured cards like Pentan spirits, Moonlight Punish magic, and The Crown of the Starlit Sky nexus. After suffering an early defeat during the Gunslinger round of the Hero Championship and reacting poorly, he quit the game temporarily.
Kataru resumed battling to rescue Manabu from a trap orchestrated by Mika Kisaragi. In this context, he defeated Hajime Hinobori in a single battle. He later battled Kimari Tatsumi, winning one encounter but losing another, and participated in an undecided background match against Kouta Tatsumi.
Following Manabu's graduation, Kataru ran for student council president against Kimari and won the election. The series epilogue shows him confronting Chihiro Kusaka's former fanclub members, now redirected toward Manabu, reflecting his ongoing protectiveness. He employed crossdressing as part of a plot to lure Tegamaru Tanashi back for a battle against Hajime, considering this an extension of his hobby rather than solely a tactical move.
