Description
Charuni Kusakabe, nicknamed "Meo," is a 14-year-old girl of Japanese and Thai descent. Her Japanese father, Masaya Kusakabe, married a Thai woman who passed away in Japan. Meo then moved to Japan at age five, mastering Japanese. Her full name, Charuni (จารุณี), stems from the Pali "Cāruṇī," signifying "a young pretty girl," while her nickname "Meo" comes from the Thai "Maeo" (แมว), meaning "cat."
Meo enters the story seeking aid from the NEET Detective Team while carrying 200 million yen. She reveals her father, formerly handling finances for the Kishiwata Group yakuza, instructed her by phone to take the money and flee after he allegedly stole 300 million yen, with 100 million missing. This puts Meo in the yakuza's crosshairs. The Kishiwata Group confronts her at Hanamaru ramen shop, but owner Min shields her. Overwhelmed by guilt for endangering others, Meo departs alone to find her father, leaving a note. Narumi tracks her to a payphone near a convenience store, where yakuza corner them. The Fourth and his Hirasaka Gang intervene, rescuing them and prompting the Fourth to formally enlist Narumi.
Narumi engineers a resolution by depositing the 200 million yen into Kusakabe’s account, bluffing its transfer to the Kishiwata Group. This lures the yakuza into a bank confrontation, where the Hirasaka Gang ensures their arrest. Meo reunites with her father. She wears a shirt displaying the Thai word "น่ารัก" (nâarák), translating to "cute."
