Ace Grit is a 16-year-old Vestal serving as the Darkus brawler for the Bakugan Resistance on New Vestroia. He sports pale green-blue hair and cool grey eyes, favoring a purple long-sleeved shirt with black and grey trimmings, greyish-white or vibrant blue pants, and black boots. His personality is defined by cockiness, sarcasm, and impulsiveness, frequently landing him in confrontations or trouble due to speaking without thinking. This recklessness sparks initial friction with teammates like Dan Kuso, whose similar temperament fuels ongoing tension. Despite his brash exterior, Ace shows fierce loyalty to friends and a protective instinct, particularly toward Resistance leader Mira Fermin, for whom he harbors unspoken romantic feelings. Jealousy flares when Mira shows attention to others, like Dan or her brother Keith.
Living alone before joining the Resistance, Ace developed independence and occasional coldness. Mira recruited him after defeating him in a brawl and giving him the sentient Darkus Bakugan Percival, convincing him to fight for Bakugan liberation. He initially opposed human involvement in the Resistance but accepted Dan and Marucho Marukura after a stalemate battle earned mutual respect. His growth involved learning teamwork, notably during a tournament paired with Shun Kazami. Their initial clashes nearly cost a semi-final match, but they reconciled differences to defeat opponents Lync Volan and Volt Luster. This experience tempered his individualism, though he remained wary of newcomers like Spectra Phantom even after their alliance.
Ace engaged in a heated, unresolved rivalry with the Vexos member Mylene Farrow, each securing one victory against the other. His devotion to Mira drove key actions: he pursued a trap mimicking her voice set by Shadow Prove, refused to believe accusations of her betrayal (confronting Dan violently), and later affirmed his unwavering faith in her during a joint battle against Gus Grav. After Prince Hydron's defeat, he returned to Vestal with Mira and Baron Leltoy, appearing on television to expose Vexos crimes and prompt their flight from prosecution. During this time, he received the Darkus Attribute Energy from Exedra of the Six Ancient Warriors, evolving Percival into Knight Percival. He later assisted Baron in finding an apartment, reflecting increased camaraderie. Mylene ambushed him during this task, but Klaus von Hertzon intervened to secure Ace’s victory. Post-conflict, he remained on Earth with Mira and Baron, participating in Bakugan Interspace events.
His primary Guardian Bakugan is Percival, evolved into Knight Percival after absorbing Exedra’s energy. Ace also wields the Trap Bakugan Falcon Fly, later evolved into Flash Falcon Fly (the evolution’s exact timing is unspecified). His known ability cards include Tri-Gunner (+300 Gs to Percival), Night Explorer (-300 Gs opponent), Misty Shadow (resets opponent’s level), Darkus Driver (+200 Gs), Black Maiden (nullifies opponent abilities), Darkus Thunder (-200 Gs opponent, +300 Gs Percival), and Battle Marionette (summons opponent Bakugan). He briefly used Darkus Freezer in a flashback and captured Haos Anchorsaur during a mission.
In later series, Ace appeared in a *Bakugan: Gundalian Invaders* flashback during a Bakugan recounting of past events. He also made a *Bakugan: Mechtanium Surge* cameo within a group photograph reflecting on earlier adventures. These appearances did not include new character developments or narrative contributions.
