Yukihana is a yuki-onna, a snow spirit, and a ninja employed by the powerful kitsune Tamamo. She works at the Tama no Yu hot springs resort and the Tama no Ya beachside restaurant. In the seventh volume of the original novels, she takes a teaching position at Kunpō High School for handicapped students under the alias Hanadai Yukino, actively denying any connection to the name Yukihana if mentioned.

A skilled swordswoman with significant physical strength, Yukihana wields her innate power as a yuki-onna to command snow and wind, conjuring blizzards at will. She uses these storms to teleport and is capable of flight.

Her name, Yukihana, means "snow" and "flower." Her chosen alias, Hanadai Yukino, reflects this meaning—"Hanadai" suggesting "flower" and "generation," while "Yukino" means "snow" and "field."

Yukihana has dark violet hair and green eyes. She often wears her hair styled with ribbons in a ponytail and frequently accessorizes with a scarf.
