Maya Satō is a student whose mother arranges private tutoring sessions for her, concerned about Maya's intense focus on academic studies at the exclusion of social experiences, particularly interactions with boys and romantic relationships. To address this, Maya's mother specifically hires tutor Atsushi Ikuta, intending the sessions to provide academic instruction while also helping Maya overcome her shyness and romantic unfamiliarity.

Maya initially resists the tutoring, arguing she doesn't need academic help. However, her mother's underlying motive becomes clear: she hopes the sessions will encourage Maya to interact more comfortably with the opposite sex and explore romantic feelings.
