Description
Ryouko Naoe is the only daughter of Baron Naoe, a Japanese nobleman indebted to the V Shipping Company for wartime assistance. This debt compels the Baron to lodge the Jaegers at their manor during their mission in Japan.
Ryouko possesses dark brown hair styled in twin braids tied with navy ribbons, with bangs swept to her left side, and brown eyes. She presents as petite and adheres to traditional Japanese attire befitting her status. Her personality blends spirited curiosity with stubborn impulsiveness, frequently disregarding authority figures like her father to pursue her interests. She exhibits a carefree demeanor yet demonstrates fearlessness confronting danger, including vampires. Ryouko relentlessly practices kendo, achieving sufficient mastery to wield her katana effectively in combat against vampire slaves.
Her story begins when the Jaegers arrive at her family's estate. She immediately develops a fascination with their mission and forms a specific interest in the hunter Yuliy. Despite his initial coldness, she follows him into dangerous situations, trailing him and Dorothea to Shizuoka despite explicit warnings to remain behind. This recklessness includes boarding a train involved in a vampire confrontation and later participating in the defense of the Naoe mansion during a vampire siege, where she directly disobeys her father's orders against using her sword.
Following the Jaegers' initial mission completion, Ryouko independently travels to London, claiming a duty as the family heir to investigate the attack on their estate. Her father permits this journey and accompanies her. She reunites with Yuliy in Sakhalin, joining Major Iba and Bishop in the search for the Ark of Sirius. During this mission, she shares a conversation with Yuliy about fatherhood, inadvertently prompting him to reflect on his brother Mikhail. Ryouko also demonstrates keen observation by memorizing a map to the Ark's location after a brief viewing.
Her relationship with Yuliy features persistent romantic interest, though she reacts with embarrassment when Dorothea teases her about these feelings. Yuliy largely remains oblivious to her affections. Her relationship with her father involves frequent rebellion against his protective restrictions, though he ultimately supports her choices.
By the conclusion of the events, Ryouko sheds her earlier impulsive and selfish behaviors. She matures after her experiences assisting Yuliy and the Jaegers in preventing Yevgraf's genocidal plans, evolving from a headstrong teenager into a more responsible individual.
