Description
Kasumi Fujino works as a maid in the secluded Shijou mansion, a place where time historically remained frozen. She possesses a quiet, patient nature and executes her duties with diligence. Gradually, she cultivates romantic feelings for Setsuya, the mansion's master, whose kindness toward the staff contrasts sharply with his twin brother, the cruel and previously imprisoned Itsuya. Kasumi alone discerns the substitution when Itsuya overpowers Setsuya, imprisons him in the basement, and adopts his identity. Her loyalty stays firmly with Setsuya, prompting her to investigate the deception actively. She observes the mansion's women experiencing distressing effects as time restarts, including heightened arousal triggered by the grandfather clock's chimes. Itsuya attempts to manipulate Kasumi, but she resists and searches for methods to assist the captive Setsuya. A critical revelation exposes that Setsuya, Itsuya, Kasumi, and an unnamed clone are all artificial beings created through an identical process. This origin imposes a fatal vulnerability: sexual activity kills them, with even minor desires posing severe danger. In the English dub, the core narrative of Kasumi's role, her bond with Setsuya, and the clone revelation remains unchanged. However, the overall tone shifts toward absurdist comedy, potentially altering the presentation of her interactions and reactions without modifying her fundamental identity or function within the story.
