Their partnership is marked by fundamental disagreements over Batman: Ramirez champions him as a force for good, while Allen distrusts vigilantes and resists acting on Batman's leads. While transporting felon Jacob Feely to Arkham Asylum, an argument over Batman's trustworthiness erupts between them. Ramirez stops their vehicle in a vacant lot, where they become embroiled in a violent clash between Sal Maroni's organization and the Russian mob. Maroni takes Ramirez hostage. Batman intervenes, disarms Maroni, and neutralizes the attackers. Following the rescue, Batman acknowledges both Ramirez and Allen as officers personally selected by Gordon, implying his approval of their integrity. Ramirez later appears during Gordon's investigation into the abduction of Cardinal O'Fallon by Scarecrow and Killer Croc, present as Gordon coordinates with Batman via communication device regarding the threat beneath Gotham Cathedral. She also participates in the armored convoy security detail protecting Gordon when he is targeted by the assassin Deadshot.
