Kimiko Higuchi is a civilian who trained alongside Noriko Takaya at Okinawa Girls' Space Pilot High School to pilot the RX-7 Machine Weapon. Unlike her friend, she was not selected to join the crew of The Silver Star orbital base and remained on Earth.

As an adult, she married and took the surname Akai. She later gave birth to a daughter named Takami.

Kimiko has brown hair and brown eyes, wears glasses, and often keeps her hair in a ponytail. She stands slightly shorter than Noriko Takaya.

She was born on June 10, 2006, is a Gemini, and is Japanese.
