Description
Raruku, also known as Lal'C Mellk Mal, stands as a prominent Topless pilot in the Fraternity organization, boasting the highest kill score among her peers. She commands Buster Machine Dix-Neuf, one of the oldest operational Buster Machines. Within the elite "Idol" group alongside Nicola and Tycho, she operates under the nickname "princess," earned through her exceptional combat record.
Her initial encounter with Nono, an aspiring pilot from Mars, sparks a significant dynamic. Nono immediately idolizes her, addressing her as "onee-sama" (big sister). Though initially exhibiting mild annoyance toward Nono’s persistent admiration and viewing her as a nuisance, Raruku gradually assumes a reluctant mentorship role. This relationship evolves from detachment into deep mutual reliance.
In combat against space monsters, Raruku demonstrates decisive leadership. She coordinates strategic responses to threats, including a high-stakes maneuver summoning Jupiter 2 from orbit to destroy a massive space monster. Her tactical acumen proves vital across multiple engagements throughout the Solar System.
A pivotal shift occurs during the final battle against a space monster wielding black hole technology. Raruku’s Topless powers, the source of her piloting abilities, expire abruptly as she reaches their age limit, rendering her unable to fight at this critical moment. Concurrently, her emotional investment in Nono peaks when Nono’s true nature as Buster Machine 7 is revealed. Frustrated by Nono’s apparent abandonment, Raruku attacks the DieBuster form but is halted by her sudden power loss.
Following Dix-Neuf’s autonomous intervention to reactivate its true combat form, Raruku reconciles with Nono. Together, they execute a "Double Inazuma Kick," defeating the space monster. After Nono sacrifices herself to contain the black hole, Raruku retrieves an origami crane—a physical memento of Nono—and returns to safety aboard Dix-Neuf.
A decade later, Raruku transitions into environmentalism, residing near Okinawa’s coastline and reflecting on Nono’s legacy. Her timeline later intersects with the conclusion of the original Gunbuster narrative as she witnesses the return of Noriko Takaya and Kazumi Amano. Raruku resolves to inform Noriko about Nono’s life and sacrifice, fulfilling a final connection between the eras.
