Description
Shintarou Natsume is an 18-year-old student at Ishiyama High School, standing 182 cm tall, who serves as an underling to delinquent leader Hajime Kanzaki. He possesses purplish or brown hair reaching just above his shoulders, typically worn under a hoodie outside of school uniform, with eyes depicted as either brown or red. Natsume maintains a consistently laid-back and carefree demeanor, rarely reacting seriously even in dangerous situations. He prefers avoiding direct fights, instead observing events around him with mild amusement and frequently offering light-hearted comments or teasing others, including Kanzaki and Nene.
Despite this reluctance, Natsume demonstrates exceptional combat proficiency. He single-handedly defeated the MK5 group effortlessly after they targeted Nene and Chiaki, and incapacitated one of Toujou's subordinates within seconds—a feat surpassing Kanzaki or Himekawa's capabilities at the time. During Oga's fight with Hiromichi of the Rokkisei, Natsume intervened to block an attack, stating his preference to avoid fighting at full strength. Later, he intimidated Misao Onizuka of the Poltergeist group, forcing him to his knees with minimal effort, revealing a capacity for intimidation when angered. His abilities place him significantly above most delinquents, including Kanzaki, though he deliberately conceals his full strength.
Natsume's loyalty to Kanzaki appears driven by personal interest rather than obligation; he follows Kanzaki because he finds his "active" nature entertaining. He assists Kanzaki by purchasing yogurt for him and supports his efforts to grow stronger. Simultaneously, Natsume exhibits independent curiosity toward Tatsumi Oga, gathering information on him, initiating conversations, and observing his battles closely—such as warning Oga about remaining Tōhōshinki opponents and alerting him to rising first-year threats like the Poltergeist members.
Throughout various conflicts, Natsume participates as a situational ally. He joined the volleyball match against St. Ishiyama Academy to avoid expulsion, assisted in locating Prince En through a video game session at Himekawa's apartment, and trained under Zenjūrō Saotome for the Akumano Academy battle. During the Poltergeist conflict, he allied with Oga and others to counter the first-year delinquents, contributing to intelligence gathering and strategy discussions. He later accompanied classmates to confront the Poltergeists at night, expressing relief when Kanzaki arrived as reinforcement.
His background, motivations, and development remain unexplored across official media. His strength, personality, and relationships show no significant evolution or revealed history. His role fluctuates between observer and combatant, with his enigmatic demeanor and true capabilities persisting without elaboration.
