Description
Mach Blaster originates from Electronic Planet B-1, initially commanding the Algo Army's White Thunder aerial unit. He transforms between robot, jet, and powerful blaster modes. Teammates such as R. JeTan frequently wield this blaster mode in combat to unleash tremendous firepower against large enemy groups or critical objectives like transmitter arrays and command tanks. A distinctive physical trait sees his faceplate open when speaking to reveal his mouth, while his eyes vary between goggle-shaped and twin-eye designs across different appearances.
His impulsive rescue of human survivors Patricia Longfellow and Zen Ogawa from the crashed starship *Good Luck*, violating direct orders, led to disciplinary reassignment into the Battle Hackers unit. This incident established his recurring tendency to prioritize mission-driven action over protocol. Within the Battle Hackers, he engaged in numerous high-risk operations against the Gurendos mechanoid gang, including disabling enemy force fields, executing space missions to destroy warships, and infiltrating mobile bases.
Significant development occurred during his capture by Gurendos commanders Shibumidas, Rikimines, and Yasand. Sealing himself inside their mobile base to ensure his team's escape, he endured torture in Blood Country but revealed no strategic secrets. The Battle Hackers' rescue mission culminated in a decisive victory over Rikimines, demonstrating Mach Blaster's resilience and loyalty.
Beyond combat, he mentored human ally Luke Stewart in marksmanship and provided specialized Riser Suit training assistance to Akira Amachi. Their partnership involved multiple joint missions, including aerial searches and protection duties.
In broader continuity, he appeared alongside the Battle Hackers to thank Rom Stol for assistance on B-1 before departing for unknown destinations, marking his final chronological appearance.
Merchandise includes a 1987 Bandai triple-changing toy (BH-02) replicating his robot, jet, and gun modes. This toy featured an electronic blaster unit powered by a 9V battery to produce firing or jet sounds and retailed for ¥3980 exclusively in Japan. A separate model kit maintained the transformation feature, while a 2017 R. JeTan figure included a non-transforming miniature representing his blaster mode.
