Description
Ono no Oyu appears in episode 6 of the OAV series "Anime Koten Bungaku Kan," adapting classical Japanese literature. His portrayal reflects the historical Ono no Oyu, a Nara period (710-794 CE) bureaucrat and poet who served as Assistant Governor-General (Daini) at Dazaifu in Kyushu, dying there in 737 CE. Three of his tanka poems survive in the Man'yōshū anthology, including one capturing spring in the capital: "In the beautiful green, here in the capital Nara, spring flowers are now in full bloom." The episode references Ōtomo no Tabito, his historical superior at Dazaifu, aligning with their documented professional association.
