Description
Naruto Uzumaki features prominently in the *Naruto Special: Battle at Hidden Falls. I Am the Hero!*. Tasked with escorting Takigakure leader Shibuki home, Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura find the village under attack by rogue ninjas led by Suien, a former Takigakure ninja seeking the powerful "Hero Water." With Kakashi absent, Naruto steps up to defend the village and protect the initially fearful Shibuki. Naruto's unwavering courage and determination during the conflict inspire Shibuki to find his own bravery and stand up for his people and the village's treasure, showcasing Naruto's characteristic heroism and ability to motivate others.
Born in Konohagakure to Minato Namikaze (the Fourth Hokage) and Kushina Uzumaki, Naruto became the jinchūriki host for the Yang half of the Nine-Tailed Fox on the day of his birth. This sealing, performed by Minato to save the village, cost both parents their lives. Raised as an orphan unaware of his parents' identities, Naruto received a monthly stipend from the Third Hokage, who decreed villagers should not speak of the Nine-Tails. Despite this, Naruto faced widespread ostracization and neglect, perceived as the fox itself. This isolation drove him to seek attention through pranks and fueled his dream of becoming Hokage to earn the village's acknowledgment.
His childhood was lonely, though key figures offered support. Iruka Umino acted as a surrogate older brother. During his Academy enrollment, Naruto defended Hinata Hyūga from bullies, sparking her lifelong admiration. Despite struggling academically, particularly with basic techniques like the Clone Jutsu, he mastered the advanced Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu from the forbidden Scroll of Seals after being manipulated by the rogue ninja Mizuki, allowing him to graduate as a genin. Placed on Team 7 under Kakashi Hatake with Sasuke Uchiha (his rival) and Sakura Haruno (his crush), his first major mission in the Land of Waves solidified his "ninja way" of never abandoning comrades.
Naruto possesses a boisterous, exuberant, and stubborn personality. He often ends sentences with "Dattebayo!" (だってばよ!), a verbal tic inherited from his mother. He exhibits childlike traits, including a love for ramen, a fear of ghosts, and a tendency to address others informally or with self-assigned nicknames. While occasionally perverse, such as using the "Sexy Jutsu" for pranks, he is fundamentally chaste and often bored by actual erotic content. Years of isolation created a deep-seated desire for acknowledgment, initially driving his quest to become Hokage. This motivation evolved into a genuine commitment to protect others and achieve peace, forming his personal nindō of never going back on his word. Despite often appearing naïve or slow to grasp concepts—requiring simplified analogies during training—he displays unexpected perceptiveness in battle and social situations, recalling critical information and devising unconventional strategies. His innate ability to inspire loyalty, friendship, and hope stems from genuine kindness and unwavering belief in others.
Naruto's combat abilities center on immense chakra reserves, stamina, and signature techniques. His early repertoire includes the Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu and the Summoning Jutsu (contracting with the toads of Mount Myōboku, learned under Jiraiya). As the Nine-Tails' jinchūriki, he can access the fox's chakra for enhanced strength, speed, and healing, though early on this manifested involuntarily during extreme anger. He later learned to harness this power deliberately. During the OVA, he primarily relied on taijutsu, basic ninjutsu, and the Shadow Clone Jutsu, as the Rasengan had not yet been developed.
Significant growth occurred through training and trauma. Under Jiraiya's tutelage during a multi-year journey, Naruto gained better control over the Nine-Tails' chakra and refined his fundamentals. The deaths of mentors like Jiraiya and the destruction of Konoha by Pain profoundly impacted him. After confronting Pain (Nagato) and understanding the cycle of hatred, Naruto vowed to break it and create lasting peace. He later mastered the Nine-Tails' power completely, achieved Sage Mode, and learned to combine various chakra natures. His role in ending the Fourth Shinobi World War solidified his status as the "Hero of the Hidden Leaf." He fulfilled his dream by becoming the Seventh Hokage, married Hinata Hyūga, and had two children, Boruto and Himawari, later adopting Kawaki. As Hokage, he works to maintain peace and protect the village.
