TV-Series
Description
**Appearance:** Athora manifests as a Quintessence Crystal Dragon. His primary Prism Dragon form is covered in vibrant crystals, featuring red eyes without black pupils and distinctive black eyeliners. He possesses rainbow wings, a colorful tail, and a sharp teal horn that sharpens into a rainbow crystal. A blue crystal snowflake floats above his head, and his claws are notably sharp. A separate SD form presents him as a small blue dragon with pink eyes (featuring black pupils), smaller light-blue wings and tail, a teal horn, a light-green chest plate, and paws instead of crystalline claws. In one episode, he disguised himself using pink hairbows and lipstick blush. His evolved Heavenly form increases crystalline coverage with rainbow crystals, retains the red eyes, replaces the mane with a golden one, and adds rainbow wings with gold-white feathers. This form also features a greenish-yellow crescent moon alongside a transformed teal-and-gold snowflake, polished golden claws, a yellowish-blue chest crystal, and a pink pearl.
**Personality:** Athora demonstrates strong protectiveness toward his buddy, Kanata Ozora, consistently prioritizing Kanata's safety in battle and declaring his intent to shield Kanata from harm. Modesty defines his demeanor, contrasting with more prideful warriors. He expresses contentment in everyday activities like spending casual time with Kanata, regularly encourages him, and shares a mutual enthusiasm for soccer, which they play together frequently.
**Background:** Athora's early appearances show him playing soccer with Kanata at Aibo Academy, activities monitored by Tasuku Ryuenji and Jackknife Dragon. When Batzz attacked the school, Athora intervened to defend Kanata, solidifying their partnership. They then entered the World Buddy Masters tournament, achieving an undefeated streak where Kanata sustained no damage, even countering abilities like Gaito’s Death Count ~Requiem~. This streak ended when Gao Mikado and Batzz inflicted Kanata’s first loss, fueling Kanata’s desire for a rematch. Later, after Chaos Control Company’s Wisdom stole Gao’s Mirage Card, Athora and Kanata challenged Wisdom but were overwhelmed by Chaos-themed monsters. During a pivotal Buddyfight against Keisetsu, Athora struggled against offensive tactics. This prompted a discussion with Gao, Batzz, and Chibi Panda about Kanata’s past withdrawal from Buddyfighting. Athora then convinced Kanata to rediscover the game's joy, culminating in Athora unlocking Overturn and evolving into his Heavenly form.
**TCG Mechanics:** Athora's standard card has Size 3, 7000 Power, 7000 Defense, and 2 Critical. His call cost requires placing the top two deck cards into his soul and paying 3 gauge. While on center, he is immune to destruction by card effects and protects his buddy from effect-based damage. Abilities include Double Attack and Soulguard. His "Re:B" variant extends protection to all field cards when on center or in a Prism Dragon’s soul, while boosting Power and Defense by 5000. Its "Crystal Bright" ability allows paying 1 life during any attack phase to summon another "Athora" monster from the deck atop him, ignoring call costs.
