Abygale is a black dragon originating from the Darkness Dragon World. He was genetically engineered as a clone of Azi Dahaka by Kyoya Gaen. Initially part of Azi Dahaka’s invading army, Abygale was discarded for perceived weakness. Azi Dahaka grievously wounded him, damaging his right eye, and left him near death on the outskirts of the Darkness Dragon World. There, the wandering human Gaito Kurouzu discovered him. Sharing experiences of loneliness and a drive for absolute strength, the two bonded and became buddy monsters. Abygale exhibits fierce loyalty to Gaito, prioritizing his safety above all else. Physically, he manifests as a large black dragon with massive wings, a red eyepatch over his injured eye, a dark spectral orb floating above his head, and a separated torso and lower body. In a smaller form, his proportions resemble a penguin, and he moves by riding the orb like a scooter. During a Buddyfight, Abygale unveiled an Impact Monster form. His determination later gave rise to the ability Unlimited Death Drain, which can destroy an opponent’s entire deck. When Gaito, under Dragon Force influence, ordered him to use this power directly on an opponent named Shura, Abygale initially refused, revealing a moral conflict, but complied after Gaito’s insistence. Confronting Azi Dahaka in a duel against Kyoya, it was revealed that Azi Dahaka had spared Abygale because he sensed latent power within him, intensifying Abygale’s resolve to grow stronger whenever his missing eye throbbed. After the events of Triple D, he evolved into Annihilation Black Death Dragon, gaining purple-and-yellow wings, a yellow eyepatch, and a purple scarf. Later, he achieved an Overturn form marked by red and gold wings, a red eyepatch, and a red scarf. At Gaito’s request to mentor Gaito’s son, Abygale temporarily transformed into Black Dragon Knight, Geil, shifting from combatant to guardian.
