Description
Mashiro Kurata is a second-year transfer student at Tsukinomori Girls' Academy and the vocalist and lyricist for the band Morfonica. She is quiet, reserved, and timid by nature, with a tendency to think negatively and worry about how others perceive her. Her low self-confidence stems from her experience at the prestigious school she dreamed of attending. After managing to enroll, she became overwhelmed by the talented student body around her and spent her days feeling discouraged and isolated. Her outlook began to shift when she attended a performance by Poppin'Party, which inspired her to join a band. Since then, she has gradually built up more confidence, though her cautious and sometimes pessimistic personality remains present. Mashiro possesses a highly active imagination and frequently gets lost in daydreams or her own fantasy world. She channels this imaginative quality into writing lyrics for Morfonica, and while she is meek in daily life, she becomes strong and focused when performing on stage. Her role in the story centers on her personal growth through the band, learning to overcome her insecurities and find her own voice. She is classmates with Touko Kirigaya and Rui Yashio, and shares a close bond with bandmate Nanami Hiromachi, who often looks out for her. Mashiro also holds a special admiration for Kasumi Toyama from Poppin'Party, who serves as a source of inspiration. Her development involves moving from a gloomy first-year struggling to fit in to a more confident second-year still working through her self-doubt, while her imaginative nature and lyrical ability remain her defining strengths. She is also known for her gentle spirit and her love of fluffy characters like Michelle.
