Description
Kurumi Erika is a spirited 14-year-old living above her family’s boutique, Fairy Drop, in Kibougahana, alongside her parents and older sister, Momoka. Her family's fashion world roots shape her deeply; her mother’s past modeling career and Momoka’s early scouting success initially spark jealousy and feelings of inadequacy in Erika regarding her own fashion dreams. This rivalry drives Erika away from modeling toward fashion design, though resentment lingers.

Erika bursts with energy, extroversion, and blunt honesty. Passionate about fashion, she possesses innate design talent and a unique skill in color therapy, interpreting emotions through hues to help others express themselves. Yet she can be impulsive, lazy with tasks she finds dull, and unintentionally abrasive, especially toward reserved individuals like classmate Tsubomi Hanasaki. Despite this, she shows fierce loyalty to friends and gradually cultivates greater emotional maturity, learning to better consider others' feelings. Her relationship with Momoka shifts from hostility to mutual respect after Erika saves Momoka from a Desertrian – a monster born from withered Heart Flowers – helping Erika reconcile her jealousy.

As Cure Marine, Erika transforms into a magical warrior defending the Heart Tree, a metaphysical entity tied to human emotions, from the desert-seeking Desert Apostles. Her transformation call is "The flower swaying in the sea breeze, Cure Marine!" Her water- and ocean-themed powers fuel attacks like Marine Shoot and Marine Dynamite. She adapts to combat faster than her partner, Cure Blossom, aided by prior dreams of Cure Moonlight's battles. Her determination in crises rings through her catchphrase, "Even a girl like me, with a heart wider than the sea, is at her limit!"

Cure Marine’s form features cyan eyes and elongated, wavy light-blue hair. Her costume combines a white and blue petal-skirted dress, a dark blue choker, and floral accents on her wrists and ankles. Achieving Super Cure Marine after trials in the Pretty Cure Palace further lengthens her hair, adds sharper ribbon designs and thigh-high socks to her outfit, and grants rainbow-colored heart-shaped wings. This form enables her participation in the group finisher Heartcatch Orchestra, summoning a giant maiden figure to purify enemies.

Erika’s journey centers on finding purpose through her dual roles. Reviving the school's Fashion Club, she recruits Tsubomi and later Itsuki Myoudouin (Cure Sunshine), using fashion to build confidence in others. As a Cure, she gains belonging and self-worth, channeling her innate capabilities—often dormant due to disinterest—into protecting others. Her growth involves learning teamwork over individualism, notably balancing her impulsiveness with Tsubomi's caution. She bonds deeply with the fairy Coffret, who acts like a younger brother, and aids Cure Moonlight (Yuri Tsukikage) in overcoming past trauma.

In spin-offs and films, Erika’s fashion expertise shines as she designs for allies like Laura (from *Tropical-Rouge! Precure*), and she appears in variant outfits, such as a hoodie-and-shorts ensemble in *Precure All Stars DX 3*. Her role in group films highlights unwavering enthusiasm for being a Cure and commitment to global protection alongside other Pretty Cure teams.

Erika’s journey concludes by embracing her identity and relationships. She overcomes envy of Momoka, solidifies her path as a designer, and reaffirms dedication to safeguarding the world’s "heart flowers" alongside her fellow Cures, symbolizing full acceptance of herself and others.
