Gian, formally known as Takeshi Goda, serves as a core member of Nobita Nobi's friend circle. He displays a muscular build and forceful personality, frequently employing threats or physical aggression to dominate peers, especially Nobita, often commandeering their belongings under the pretense of borrowing. Despite this, he shows unwavering loyalty when friends confront true danger.
During the "What Am I for Momotaro" adventure, Gian joins a time-travel investigation into the Momotaro folktale. Upon reaching feudal Japan, he ingests an Animal Transformation Biscuit, morphing into an ape. This altered state retains distinct human facial features, particularly his recognizable nose and mouth, positioning him as the simian companion alongside Nobita (Momotaro), Suneo (transformed into a dog), and Shizuka (as a pheasant).
Gian assists in navigating river rapids using Doraemon’s Peach Submarines. Initially dismissive of a Dutch scholar’s mission, he commits to the quest after viewing an enigmatic photograph. He exhibits unease when encountering an apparent "oni"—later exposed as a shipwrecked Dutch sailor disguised as a demon—yet aids in solving the central enigma. His characteristic bluntness surfaces when coercing Suneo to interact with the scholar despite language difficulties.
The adventure culminates with Gian’s transformed state, alongside his friends, inadvertently inspiring the Momotaro legend. This outcome underscores his recurring attributes: reliance on physical force, latent protectiveness toward comrades, and emotional reactivity during critical situations.
