Description
Kyuusaku Kujō, alias Number Nine, serves as a central antagonist in the series, masquerading as a refined gentleman while concealing a manipulative nature and sinister ambitions. His striking appearance includes jet-black hair sculpted into a fish-like silhouette, piercing green eyes veiled by uneven bangs, and a tailored black suit later exchanged for a crimson counterpart. Beneath his charismatic facade lies a ruthless strategist who exploits alliances and psychological manipulation to advance his goals.

In the anime, Kyuusaku debuts during Toaru Elementary School’s Parent’s Day, engaging the protagonist in a high-stakes card duel. After his defeat, he relinquishes the X-rare "DragonEmperor Siegfried" card, foreshadowing his grander scheme to harness pyroxene stones. By brainwashing members of the Numbers Elite and others, he engineers living weapons from Battle Spirits. At the King Uchuuchouten Cup tournament, he imprisons defeated duelists to siphon their stones’ energy, intending to merge the Isekai World with reality. His downfall comes in a final clash against the protagonist, resulting in his essence merging with King Uchuuchouten. Stripped of memories and reformed, he departs for America alongside a former rival.

The manga delves into his past trauma and disillusionment as a Numbers Elite member, driving his alliance with Smile to trigger global collapse and forge a new order. A pivotal encounter with Uchuuchouten, who champions perseverance, shifts his loyalty, leading him to aid the protagonists in dismantling Smile’s regime. Flashbacks reveal how earlier tragedies eroded his hope, fueling his destructive crusade.

Kyuusaku’s combat style revolves around red-attribute cards, deploying aggressive tactics with spirits like "DarkDragonEmperor Siegfried," "TwinRowdy Diranos," and "Gigantic Thor." His duels blend calculated strategy with raw power, yielding fluctuating results against adversaries such as Suiren, J, and Striker.

His arc spans from methodical villain to redeemed ally, shaped by ideological clashes and the protagonists’ influence. This transformation underscores themes of redemption and the capacity of human bonds to reshape entrenched convictions.
