Musashi Gouda leads the Body Improvement Club at Salt Middle School. He possesses an exceptionally muscular physique for a middle schooler, characterized by thick eyebrows and strong sideburns, and typically wears his gym uniform. Despite his imposing build, he maintains a consistently respectful, kind, and honorable demeanor, rejecting violence while prioritizing self-improvement and supporting others' growth. His family operates a farm he plans to inherit, fostering his practical outlook and strong work ethic. His extensive focus on physical training results in poor academic grades.
He founded the Body Improvement Club and welcomed Shigeo Kageyama (Mob) as a member despite Mob's initial lack of athleticism, consistently encouraging him and valuing effort over innate talent. His compassionate leadership extends beyond physical development; he allowed the Telepathy Club to share their clubroom and defended Tenga Onigawara against ostracization based on false evidence. Initially refusing Onigawara's request for help in a violent confrontation, Musashi later accepted him into the club, forming a bond through shared training.
During the Black Vinegar Middle School incident, he led the club to rescue Mob after Onigawara orchestrated his kidnapping. While the club defeated numerous delinquents, Musashi and his members were overpowered by Teruki Hanazawa's psychic abilities. His defining act of heroism occurred when he physically shielded an unconscious Mob from Hiroshi Shibata, an esper intent on killing him. Outmatched, Musashi intervened, declaring he would die before allowing harm to Mob and articulating the club's deep admiration for Mob's persistent determination. An evil spirit named Dimple possessed Musashi, amplifying his strength to defeat Shibata; afterward, Musashi helped transport Shibata to the hospital.
Musashi upholds the belief that a sound mind resides in a sound body. He supports club members through challenges beyond training, offering Mob advice on personal matters despite lacking romantic experience himself. He remains an approachable and trusted figure within the school community, embodying steadfast commitment to justice, camaraderie, and self-betterment through disciplined effort.
