Description
Suiren maintains a dual identity: the cheerful, girly idol singer My Sunshine publicly, and the haughty, tsundere card battler Suiren secretly. As My Sunshine, she sports pink hair with a red bow and heart-patterned outfits. Her Suiren disguise features purple hair, a black headband, and a distinctive red eye mask, allowing her to pursue Battle Spirits incognito without jeopardizing her idol career; the personas begin to merge as she connects with others.

Raised in Hawaii, she discovered a heart-shaped purple pyroxene stone underwater there. This stone grants her pet chameleon Pink the ability to speak and enables access to Isekai World, where spirits manifest physically. Strict idol restrictions force her to conceal her battling passion, often disappearing before concerts. Initially reluctant to form bonds, she develops friendships with Toppa Bashin, J Sawaragi, and Kakeru "Striker" Nohara after they discover her secret in episode 17.

Her development centers on reconciling her identities. Early conflict includes denying her enjoyment of Battle Spirits on "Battle Spirits TV" to protect her image, causing tension with Bashin. She later battles and defeats Striker and Bashin in tournaments. Overcoming insecurities, like false rumors affecting her skills, is part of her journey. She joins Bashin's Team Shōmen Toppa to rescue J from Thousand Spirits Group, participating in crucial tag battles. Her purple stone is depleted fighting King Uchuuchouten, severing Isekai World access and silencing Pink, though both are restored later. Post-series, she balances both identities, attending events as My Sunshine and visiting card shops as Suiren.

Suiren primarily uses a purple-attribute deck with demon, skull, and occult motifs, featuring cards like The SevenShogun Desperado and The SevenShogun Destlord. As My Sunshine, she is required to use a yellow-attribute "image deck" with cute spirits like Ponysus and The Fairy Tanya, which she dislikes for its weakness; she later incorporates some yellow cards. Her battle record includes victories against Striker (Episodes 9, 11) and Bashin (Episode 9), and losses to J (Episode 1) and Thousand Spirits Group's Number Nine (Episode 14). She demonstrates consistent skill, particularly in tag-team matches with J or Bashin.

In the manga, Suiren reveals her identity to Bashin earlier, wears glasses instead of a mask, and battles the primary antagonist Smile. Her role receives less emphasis, with minimal focus on her idol career or personal growth. The character appears solely within the core anime and manga series.
