Ezekiel Stane, son of Tony Stark's former rival Obadiah Stane, operated under the alias Technovore. Subjected to intense pressure from his father from a young age, rumors persisted that Obadiah injected nanomachines into Ezekiel's brain to augment his intellect. Prior to his father's demise, Ezekiel faked his own death and vanished underground, later inheriting Obadiah's illicit assets. He forged the bio-technological weapon system Technovore while working as an arms dealer affiliated with organizations including A.I.M.
Driven by revenge against Tony Stark, whom he blamed for his father's death, Ezekiel orchestrated an assault on Stark's "The Howard" surveillance satellite. He deployed mercenary Raiders as a diversion while Iron Man and War Machine fought them. Ezekiel infiltrated the satellite launch center, eliminating its staff. He overpowered Iron Man in combat before escaping; the ensuing center explosion critically injured War Machine.
Tracking Ezekiel to a repurposed Stark facility in Shanghai, Stark attempted negotiation, but Ezekiel dismissed any closeness to his father. Physical contact prompted Ezekiel to unleash Technovore nanites, paralyzing the Iron Man armor. He elaborated his philosophy merging biology and technology, declaring Stark's external armor obsolete. Ezekiel tried detonating Stark's suit but lost control as his bio-armor malfunctioned. S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Black Widow and Hawkeye intervened, arresting both.
Transported to the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, Ezekiel's Technovore rapidly spread through its systems, seizing control and nearly crashing the vessel. Temporarily stabilized by Iron Man's arc reactor, the Technovore then betrayed Ezekiel, invading his body and transforming him into a mindless bio-technological entity. This granted enhanced physical capabilities but erased his consciousness. As Technovore, he battled Iron Man, causing the Helicarrier to crash into Shanghai. Iron Man allowed his capture during the final confrontation, enabling War Machine to fire the Howard satellite's laser at Tony's arc reactor. The resulting energy surge destroyed the Technovore, reverting Ezekiel to human form for S.H.I.E.L.D. custody.
Ezekiel possessed genius-level intellect, demonstrated by creating and initially controlling the Technovore. His bio-tech armor granted flight exceeding contemporary Iron Man suits and generated malleable white spheres. These spheres could form javelin-like weapons, infect and cripple machinery, or detonate remotely. The Technovore also dissolved metal and adapted structures, allowing environmental reshaping and even regenerating severed limbs. However, these powers carried weaknesses: debilitating headaches from Technovore strain and the system's instability, which ultimately led to his loss of autonomy and physical transformation.
Ezekiel positioned himself as a self-styled futurist, viewing traditional technology like Stark's suits as relics. His ideology aimed to erase humanity and rebuild the world under his control via the Technovore, considering it the next evolutionary step. This ambition drove him to exploit the Howard satellite to globalize his attack, planning to hack and weaponize all networked technology against humanity.
