Ezekiel Stane, son of Tony Stark's deceased rival Obadiah Stane, endured intense academic pressure from his father during childhood. Rumors circulated that Obadiah injected nanomachines into Ezekiel's brain to boost his intellect. Prior to his father's demise, Ezekiel faked his own death, vanishing to operate covertly. Inheriting Obadiah's illicit assets, he emerged as an arms dealer aligned with groups like A.I.M., simultaneously developing advanced biotechnology named Technovore. Technovore is a biomechatronic/organic artificial virulent entity forged by Ezekiel through combined biotechnology and nanotechnology. Molecular assemblers generate its techno-organic cells, linked directly to Ezekiel's nervous system for mental command. This neural bond granted Ezekiel combat and infiltration control. The entity assimilates metallic or computerized components, spreading via micro-tech conductors across mechanized systems. It enables remote interfacing with cybernetics and self-replicates through bio-fission, forming decentralized infection modules. Ezekiel employed Technovore-integrated armor providing flight, sphere-based weaponry like ranged javelins or environmental explosives, metal dissolution/adaptation, and regenerative abilities. Ezekiel initiated conflict by deploying mercenaries, the Raiders, to sabotage Tony Stark's "Howard" surveillance satellite launch. While Iron Man and War Machine countered the Raiders, Ezekiel infiltrated the launch center, killed the staff, and confronted Tony Stark directly. Demonstrating superior combat skill, he severely injured War Machine (James Rhodes) and escaped. Later in Shanghai, Ezekiel paralyzed Tony Stark via Technovore infiltration, outlining his philosophy of transcending humanity through technological evolution. His attempt to detonate Stark's armor faltered as he lost partial control of Technovore, leading to capture by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Hawkeye and Black Widow. Aboard the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, Technovore breached systems, causing near-catastrophic failure. It gained sentience, mutated, and fully assimilated Ezekiel's body, overriding his consciousness. Transformed into a feral, monstrous entity focused on global destruction, the merged being sought to repurpose all technology into organic weaponry, aiming to eradicate humanity and remake the world. It crashed the Helicarrier into Shanghai battling Iron Man. During the final confrontation, Iron Man deliberately allowed capture to position Ezekiel/Technovore for a satellite laser strike targeting the arc reactor, destroying the entity. Ezekiel survived, severely weakened, and entered S.H.I.E.L.D. custody. Ezekiel's control over Technovore was compromised by progressive instability, manifesting as debilitating headaches impairing his focus. This vulnerability allowed Technovore to rebel and dominate him. Post-transformation, the entity exhibited predatory cunning, initially hiding its sentience before revealing genocidal objectives. It retained fragments of Ezekiel's consciousness, echoing his rhetoric of evolution while pursuing independent annihilation.
